Where AI Gives an Account Team Time Back in the First Week
Three things an account team can start this month without a system purchase, and the rule to set before anybody pastes a client transcript anywhere.
Client success is one of the few functions where AI can return real time in the first week. Most of the work is reading, summarising, and preparing, which is what these tools are genuinely good at.
Three to start with, using what the team already produces.
## 1. Meeting capture that survives a handover
Record client calls where you have consent, and produce a structured summary: what was agreed, what was raised, who owes what by when. Put it somewhere the whole team can read rather than in one person's inbox.
The immediate gain is time. The real gain shows up in three months when somebody covers an account they have never worked on and the history is actually there.
## 2. A health score you build in an afternoon
You do not need a platform for the first version. Take your accounts and score each one on five things you already know: days since last senior contact, response time trend, open issues, invoice payment behaviour, and whether scope grew or shrank this quarter.
Weight them, rank them, look at the bottom five. Test it against the last two accounts you lost. If the score would have flagged them, you have something worth building on. If not, change the inputs and try again.
## 3. Review preparation
Most review decks get assembled the night before from several systems. Pull the data automatically, generate a first draft of the commentary, then have the account lead rewrite the parts that require judgement.
Never send a generated narrative to a client unedited. The draft saves the two hours of assembly. The thinking is still yours.
## Before any of it
Decide which tool the team may use and what client material is allowed into it. Write it down and send it round. An afternoon of work.
Skip that and you get BROAI, which is your best account managers pasting client transcripts and commercial terms into free tools because they are under pressure and nobody gave them an approved option. In a client facing team that is not an internal issue. It is somebody else's confidential information sitting in a system you do not control.
This is the Scan and Score phase of SWITCH, the framework I use with clients. Ground truth first.
Pick one. Give it an owner and a number it has to move, whether that is hours returned or accounts flagged before they churned. Review it in thirty days.
If you want this built around your accounts and your constraints rather than delivered as a generic workshop, the [speaking and training page](/speaking) sets out the formats, or reach me at me@martins.com.ng or through the [work with me page](/work-with-me).
